A typical day on the river begins at first light. The guides prepare coffee, tea, hot chocolate, a variety of hot and cold cereals, yogurt and fresh fruit. The early riser can have a quick bite and go for a short hike or catch some trout as the sun warms the river canyon. At approximately 8:00 A.M. we serve a full course breakfast. Typical breakfasts include Dutch oven potatoes, omelets, bacon, pan-fried Idaho trout, eggs to order, cream filled French toast, sourdough pancakes with huckleberry syrup and more. After breakfast the guides break camp and prepare the boats for a day of adventure on the river.
Midmorning we begin our day of rafting. While on the river you will have three types of boats from which to choose. Guests can ride aboard an oar boat where the guide navigates you safely down river. Or a Paddle boat where you join 5 to 7 other guests and a guide and paddle the raft through the many rapids yourselves. Or for the strong hearted, an inflatable kayak, the ultimate in whitewater excitement. At anytime during your trip you can decide which craft fits your mood.
During the day we stop at many points of interest. We explore ancient Sheepeater Indian pictographs and campsites and soak in the natural hot springs. There are also many beautiful side canyons to explore.
The guides serve lunch around midday on the banks of the river. Lunch favorites include deli sandwiches, taco salads, hot Rubens, fresh fruit and cheese, homemade cookies and breads, lots of ice cold lemonade, ice tea and water. After a leisurely break it's on to more exciting whitewater, spectacular scenery and exploration.

You reach your night's camp late afternoon. A guide has already transported all the kitchen equipment, camping gear and guests' bags to camp on a custom designed supply pontoon boat. When you arrive, your tent is set up. You can immediately get comfortable. If you still have some energy you can take a short hike, team-up for a game of volleyball or horseshoes, or just relax. The Kid Wrangler has the kids enjoying camp activities before dinner and after.
Hors d'oeuvres such as skewered chicken with cashew butter, stuffed mushrooms, or shrimp stuffed cream puffs are served early evening. Each evening a refreshment table is set up with plenty of ice for your beverages. We serve your full course dinner about an hour after hors d'oeuvres. Dinners include prime rib, marinated salmon fillets, Basque paella, or Dutch oven chicken, just to name a few. Also, each evening for dessert our guides carefully prepare a delicious Dutch oven pastry.
After dinner, time is spent relaxing around the camp fire reliving the experience of the day with old and new friends. You may take in a short hike before bed and dreams of the next day's excitement and adventure. At Rainbow Rafting, we want our service and attention to detail to make this your best vacation ever!
